I got my first handmade Tom Anderson electric guitar back in 1998. Then I had played guitar for 14 years. I had played stock music-store guitars for about 7 years. Then I would spend the next 7 years or so taking stock guitars and changing them: I'd replace the plastic nut with a bone nut; I'd replace the 3-way switch with a 5-way; and especially, I replaced several guitar pickups.
With these mods, I made the guitars better, but for some reason in '98 I wanted a "custom" guitar.
I moved to Salt Lake City in 1995 and as I now had this newfound wish for the supreme handmade, studio-quality guitar, I began calling music stores in Salt Lake. After calling a few stores, I called the one store (without knowing it) who carried Tom Anderson guitars.
After chatting, I drove up and played one for the first time. I instantly knew I had to have one, so I called Anderson and placed an order for a guitar with the exact specs I had been wanting for years. They had a waiting list at the time, and about 10 months later the guitar arrived.
Since then I got another in 2006. These are simply the finest guitars I've ever played or owned. I remember when my first guitar arrived it was (and is) so great that I sold all other (non-Anderson) guitars I had at the time. I sold around 4-5 guitars, simply because I no longer played them.
From the neck shape, to the body woods, to the pickups, the playability, and the tone!—these guitars are the perfect expression of what a guitar should feel and sound like.
A musical instrument should be a tool for musicians to express themselves to the best of their ability, and to play the sounds they hear in their heads. Anderson has done that for me.
Thank you Tom Anderson Guitars.
